Opinions on difference between non spec ops army airborne units and spec ops airborne units like the rangers?

Please no buyist and crazy answers I am considering joining the army as an infantrymen and I would like to get airborne in my contract. I am not sure if I should ask for more. There is no doubt in my mind that I can pa the PFT with flying colors but what is the real difference between recruits and members in airborne units like the 82nd airborne and units like the 75th ranger regiment and enlisting with an 11b option 40 contract
