How long is my daughter contagious with strep after starting antibiotics if she still has a fever?

My daughter has strep (again!) and has been on antibiotics for 24 hours now, she has a slight fever (been no higher than 101.4) and she says she feels absolutely fine. Will she still be contagious with the fever even though everyone says they usually aren't after 24 hours of antibiotics? I know it can take up to 48 hours, to really work, but is it possible that it may take more time? I'm just frustrated, this is the 4th case (2 for her, 1 for her sister and i'm just finishing meds for mine) of strep since Thanksgiving.....I'm trying to disinfect the house and was wondering when I can stop religiously spraying and wiping things down that she touches...

Mold and flies in compost?

Is having mold or flies in your compost normal? every couple days i'll go out there to mix it and there will often be a layer of white fuzz across the top. and theres always flies, or maggots in it, is this normal? Sometimes i get mushrooms too, which is kinda cool, but is this normal? good/bad? Is it too wet? would adding paper help? we dont really have alot of leaves in our yard, and we have dogs, so we just mulch the gr clippings and leave em on the lawn.. So our compost is mostly from our rabbit litter (cedar chips and rabbit waste) and random kitchen scraps when my fiance remembers to save them. If its too wet would adding paper help? what is the best way to add it? we have a paper shredder but it does confetti cut which i read somewhere isn't good? would it be better to rip it in strips? or ball it up? (would be a great job for our 5 year old cousin) Oh, and our compost is in a large metal trash can with a bunch of holes put in it. Any advice would be incredibly helpful!

I have a VERY timid 1 year old male (not fixed) Black lab X Boxer, and a 12 year old male (not fixed) mini american eskimo husky. They always get along well, and today I let them inside from the outdoors, they followed me into my living room, and they were walking between my couch and coffee table. There is a couple bones laying on the floor from them chewing on them last night. They have growled before by protecting their bones, but I turned my back for 2 seconds and all of a sudden I heard growling and whimpering at the same time. I turned around and my lab/boxer had my husky in his mouth, pinned to the floor. There was no warning growl or sound before the attack happened, I had no warning. The attack lasted maybe 10 seconds and now my husky has 4 puncture wounds on his chest, a slit on his throat on the underside, and a mive hemotoma bruise on the underneath of his chest. If everything does not drain properly in 48 hours he may have to go for surgery and get drainage tubes incerted. We have an appointment for a week from now for the spca to put down my lab/boxer, but is there something else I can do for him. I am leery of him in the house with my young kids as well. But I feel bad for having to in other words kill him.

You want to work in the media, but perhaps you should think about where exactly you'd like to work. I used to be pretty good at slinging horse sh*t on my garden. You just put it on in late fall, til it under and plant in the spring.That way you can use fresh when applying.It wont be too hot since you have all winter for it to break down and enrich the soil. The horse sh*t I used also had small wood chips and sawdust in it. That helps the soil stay broken up, especially if your soil tends to clay.

Hello, I notice that gr grows really fast around my ACU outside since I ume the higher temps and moisture keeps the gr healthier. It is hard to cut the gr due to the pipes and wires that connect the ACU to my home. Breakup over cancer diagnosis?

I have recently had two cervical biopsies for some abnormalities found on previous tests. In between these two surgeries I became close to a guy and we began dating. its all about your eating habits. You can run as much as you want but if your not eating the right way its not gonan do nothing for you. Eat 6 small meals a day of healthy food and jog and work out. While your at work and cant heat stuff up, eat pwoer bars to supplement for food. Just dont make that your food for all day. Best thing to eat is Chicken and rice. Rice expands in your stomach to make you feel full. Also when you eat chew food up well and wait 30secs after you swallow, til you take the next bite do allow your food to digest. If you keep eating fast you will feel overly stuffed because you have ate to much and didnt eat slower. slower you eat, the fuller you will be. crazy I know but it works

There are alot of things that can make it jerk or surge. May not be engine problem but problem with trans. Biggest problem I can think of on this truck is vacuum leaking on the tbi gasket. Leaks in the back. Causes alot of problems most of which is surging and high idle. Which is what could cause the harshness when you put it in gear.

How do I care for an indoor Gardenia?

Okay, so I bought a Gardnia plant a week ago, and I'm beginning to realize I'm in big trouble. It's not blooming even though it has about 10 buds on it. I've made sure the soil is moist, and it gets the right amount of sun. The leaves look wonderful, and it's about 3 1/2 gallons, maybe 2 feet high. It just doesn't want to open for me. The problem is, I live in the desert (Arizona), so could this be why it doesn't want to bloom? I do mist it every three days to give it some humidity. I take it outside at night for a couple of hours, but I don't leave it (it gets in the 50's). My dad, who has the worst green thumb, and has managed to kill every plant imaginable..lol.., managed to keep his gardenia alive. All he does is water it. Am I missing something?

Help! MIL rant... Is Elmo Live not for toddlers?!?

Ugh. Where to start. I am 30wks pregnant with #2 and #1 is 16months old. Yesterday it was snowing alot, but there was a craft show i've been wanting to go to for days! My husband, baby and I went. Of course we bundled her up really well and the show was only 3 blocks away, we still drove! There were lots of other babies there with their mommies no daddys. Anyway. MIL calls afterwords and asks me why Im taking her grandbaby out in this weather? Thats just a little rude to me. And then she tells me she bought something(something I dont need! what else?). And then this morning she called to ask for my husbands shoe size because she doesnt know what else to get him for x-mas, and then she tells me about the Elmo Live doll- that it wouldnt be age appropriate for our baby and thats why she didnt get it. (this is actually another story) but to sum it up- my mom is getting our 16 month old soon to be 17m the Elmo Live for christmas- because we played with it and I thought she would really enjoy it. So, yeah. The MIL is making me feel like crap, like Im a bad mom for taking our baby out in the weather and letting her play with a toy that she "will break" anyway. ugh. Ok, so when I got my braces tightened they put something on the wire between my teeth to keep the wire from shifting. It has cut a big jagged line down the inside of my lip and it turned into a canker sore, so I have put canker sore medication on it and it hurts like a *****. Anyways, onto my question. Often when I have canker sores, although I've read to stay away from acidic and spicy foods when you have a canker sore, I intentionally eat those types of foods to induce the burning sensation. When this happens I feel less pain afterwards than I did before, i guess it kind of kills all the bacteria that is on the sore. i currently study acupuncture at university, i dont know how they measure qi/chi/energy but the chinese had some strange ideals and beliefs that we as a western society may not understand but a lot of it actually works. as for acupuncture and homeopathy working and no scientific based evidence, maybe you need to do a little more research yourself. there are a lot of successful studies with acupuncture. it is hard to measure in a scientific way because it there are too many extraneous variables and you cant just lump all patients in one category because they show a specific symptom unlike western medicine and science it is a lot more personal. maybe you should experience recieving some acupuncture treatment. its amazing how a persons colour, pulse, body temp, emotional state can all change after the insertion of a few needles. it may not always cure or be successful but it always has some sort of affect on the human body.

I'm 17 and i think that im just now realizing that all these years my mom is to blame for the reason ive always been unhappy. I've always been very intuitive.. and i think i have absorbed everything about my mom. All her stresses, and i think that theres something off with my mom. something is not rite with her. Coral Eating Critters?

We have a 75 gallon saltwater tanked stocked with a variety of corals and fish and live rock. Its just under a year old and we have never had a problem keeping things alive, until recently. A few pieces of coral have been looking sickly, and after looking closer, I found some type of critter eating away at the coral. He was white, with small little flower shaped tenacles all over the top of him, and a suction botton (like a slug). We pulled him off the coral, and flushed him. The piece he was eating at did eventually die and disintegrated. Today, I noticed again a piece of coral looked like it was being eaten, so we took the piece out, and on the botton of the rock it was attached to was 4 of those critters! We have never noticed these guys before (just different types of worms in the rocks) and now they seem to be infesting our tank, and destroying it! We found a total of 6 and removed the from the tank. Anyone have any idea what thest critters are and how to get rid of them?

I was recently cast as the lead in my high school's show after doing three consecutive professional shows, so I'm kind of used to that kind of theater. My school director, however, isn't. He's rude, mean-spirited, and has to have things his way: he forces the actors to do exactly what he says, down to the position of their pinkies (This sounds like exaggeration. It's not.) and I think he mildly dislikes me and as a result, publicly humiliates me. In addition to not letting any of the actors have any say in how the scenes run, he is constantly putting us all down (me especially) telling me that "He should have chosen someone with more acting experience." I can handle criticism (it's kind of a part of professional theater) but he's just unkind. I find myself dreading rehearsal, something I've never done in any show until now, and I fear that he's killing my love of acting. Please help.

just as the above has stated those error's are the only real ones i saw. Now for experience you will have enough. As long as a person has the appropriate licences to deal with the accounts that the position will be overviewing you should be good. Remember there biggest thing they wanna see is your personality. If you are kind and prompt that will give you a edge. Your job will be to remind the clients why your agency is better then down the road by using your customer service experience. When you get experience in the account manager position maybe you could look at doing my type of job. I am a personal lines Account Executive once you know your job it is alot more fun to deal with new clients everyday and i find it alot more rewarding. What's it like giving bone marrow?

i've decided i am going to do this one day. i don't care about the pain, i just want to save a life. i want to be more selfless because i've never done anything to help anyone. like i never gave blood or raised money for charity etc. i'm going to start giving blood first. i just get a little nervous thinking about it. i'm not afraid of needles. i just get a weird feeling when i see all the blood coming out of me. it seems like they take a lot but i know it's for a good cause so i'm gonna do it. i know you'll just have a sore arm for a little while and maybe dizziness afterwards. but i would like to know more about bone marrow. i know it's a lot of pain but it can't be as bad as childbirth right? i think they do this at my university. would i have to miss cl and stay in bed for a few days? i already know it's a 5 inch needle they put in you..but what's the pain like when they use anesthetic? do they put you to sleep? how long do you have to wear the bandage? it would be great to hear from someone who's experienced this :) and how long does this take? and how much do they take from you?

I need help - Anxiety attacks because of speed and fear of dying in a motor vehicle accident?

In 2005 I were involved in a pedestrian knock down. I were the driver of a ambulance and on my way to a motor vehicle accident, an african man ran over the road and we collided (he died on scene). The thing that is getting me down now is that I have a severe fear of speed and I have this believe that every time I get in a car, I'll be in a accident and I'm gonna die. I have been working in the medical field for 6 years now and I have seen all the different ways people die in an accident. I work for my husband who owns his own ambulance service and I have a three year old daughter. I went to see a psychologist a few times, but he just keeps on going into my childhood and not into my problem. Does anyone have the same problem or any advice for me... Please, it is even affeacting my mariage, I don't know what to do anymore, I am now stuck in an office at home and I feel like a bird in a cage. I hardly ever leave the house and the walls are starting to narrow in on me.....

Kawasaki kz440 carb removal?

im not to familiar with bikes .. im more of a car person but i have a kawasaki kz440 and i think its an 81' ... i wanted to know what the spacific process to go about removing the carburetors ... i know there is gas in the tank and a battery hooked up ... but im not sure what all needs to be tooken off and what steps to take ... the reason im taaking out the carbs is because im replacing the jets because the original once are not working .. any help with the steps i need to take for this motorcycle would be much appreciated ... thanks!

Becoming a doctor with low GPA and high SAT.?

I want to pursue the career of a doctor. The problem is that I don't have a high GPA. My GPA is around 2.6 or 2.7 because I was brought into algebra in seventh grade but I wasn't ready for it and that screwed my GPA. I scored extremely high on my SAT's(By the way if anybody knows what end of grade tests are, I scored 4's on those.). I'm just afraid if I apply to a college like North Carolina A&T or UNC I won't get in because of my low GPA. Could I possibly get into a good school or even ivy league with my ets?

American Pride where is it.....?

So I am a teacher and lately I have been very upset at a few things that have taken place. One our music teacher no longer teacher "Our Country Tis of Thee", "America, America", and pretty much any other patriot song to the students. Too many religious parents were complaining ( ie. Mormon, Jehovah's Witness). I understand that they dont want to partake....but for the love of God these songs are historical to our country....it should melt your heart to see younger generations singing these songs. What do you think?
