Is this from birth control or am I pregnant?

If I didn't have my period for 2 months then started on birth control would that force my period to start? It did but then I went off it and I am having some pregnancy "symptoms". Weight gain, swollen , appetite increase. What I am wondering is if I never went on that birth control would my period never have come?? My Dr. did urine tests but he never did any bloodwork so I don't know...
