Does having someone close to you die make you more sensitive to death?

I recently lost my sister, and it just sems like I'm more attuned to death now than before. I find myself crying when I hear of a death (like I just heard about Gerald Levert's death), and it really makes me sad. Does it affect any of you in this way?
