Regarding feline fibrosarcoma. What is the prognosis even after leg amputation.?

I found this cat and apparently the tumor has been there for awhile. The vet wants to amputate the leg and although it doesn't appear to have spread there is not certainty. Anyone know or know of a cat that went through amputation and still died anyway?
