What are some legitamite succesful small businesses for a first time 25 year old lady to open up a business?

I would have $1500 to invest in starting up a business. I have tried ebay and due to the fact that I have been unsuccesful and finding wholesalers in my area I am not going that route..but does anyone have any other ideas of a small business I can open up at home first, that can earn me some profit if I put in the time and effort? I am comfortable working on the computer, traveling locally, and open to all ideas. Thanks.
